Bournemouth Roadtrip

So after getting down to Bournemouth in a ridiculously short amount of time and being greeted by great weather and with the prospect of some ok surf everything was looking good. Once we got into Bournemouth our directions ran out so we had to rely on signposts and my somewhat limited knowledge of the town. First we decided to head for Boscombe pier as it was closest, but after Andy (LTG Team Sponger) saw a sign to Southbourne which he had heard of, there was no real stopping him since he was driving. I was quite optimistic and knew that there was the potential for some really nice wedges and a very happy sponger if we continued, so I didn’t argue .
So we parked up at the Southbourne car park and got out and looked down at the beach. There were no signs of these famous wedges Andy (and me) were amping for , or any waves for that matter. The sea looked completely flat, except for on the horizon there were some small ripples that slightly resembled swell lines. Also the wind was good was directly off shore so I told Andy that all these ‘swell lines’ needed was a nice little Bournemouth sandbank to make them break perfectly, not being at all sure if this was true or not, but I wanted to stay optimistic. So we headed towards Bournemouth, on the longest way round possible , via Boscombe. Not being someone who visits Bournemouth very often Andy was shocked at how many people were in these little clean ankle snappers, but they were ride able . So then we headed to Bournemouth as I thought it would be even better there. We arrived at Bournemouth pier and got out at the top of the road leading down to it. I decided to have a little skate on the carve board and decided to skate down one of the mad hills to Bournemouth pier. This was  against Andy and Aiden’s (team member and guest water photographer) advice. They both said “Your going to eat it.” and I did. I ended up, mildly concussed and ripping all the skin off my legs and elbows. After about half an hour of Andy (now team medic as well apparently) giving me a patch up with his first aid kit, we decided to head down to the beach. We checked it out for a bit and Andy decided it was good enough for him to get wet so along with guest water photographer and LTG team member Aiden, he got suited up and went in. Andy ripped it up for a while, catching some typical Bournemouth waves, with Aiden shooting him from the water and me shootin stills from the shoreline. Andy said it turned out to be a pretty sick session and he wasn’t  disappointed! After the surf we headed off to Sandbanks to do some carveboarding which turned out to be a really decent end to the day with some awesome videos and photos shot! On the way back we decided that we should set up a team and road trip more often, so we had the idea for team LTG, which you can read an article all about here. All in all was a very good trip, check out the surf photos here . All the video can be found in the videos section of Andy’s profile, which is here.
